Strike Two

Seriously?!

Why am I always at the wrong place at the wrong time? Please stop trying to kill me, Universe. I have shit to do. No more Time Square (the first time I go there in months, someone wants to blow it up. Not only that. I got lucky enough to be in the theatre they refused to evacuate and wouldn't let anyone leave. Fun Times.) and apparently I'm not supposed to see the Space Exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.

So, that's strike two and I'm concerned strike three won't allow me to update y'all on my rediculousness. My happy ass will gladly stay in Brooklyn. Goodbye, Anything above 14th Street. It was nice knowing you.

An open letter to New York City.

Dear City,

I would like to extend a big fat fuck you.
Fuck you for trying to break me. For a minute there I'm sure you thought you had me. Then I came to my senses and now there is no way you can beat me.
Fuck you for putting douchebags in my life, but thanks for the lesson. Here's another one: Karma is a bitch.
Fuck you for trying to make me doubt myself. I am a strong independent person and will never let you or anyone else get in the way of me thinking that again.
Fuck you for trying to change me. I will never turn into a self serving bitter person that you have turned so many people into. I will always be amazing. Deal with it.

Fuck you very much,
NQ

Dear keeper of the Universe,

Let's have a little chat, shall we? Step into my outside office (because I have a feeling this might take awhile and I'm going to get a little heated, so a few smokes are in order).

Originally, my opening was going to be "You owe me one" but after the recent incidents in my life, I think it's safe to say that one ain't even close to covering it. One million might be a better way to even beginning negotiations of being even. Taking away my favorite person in the world would qualify you as being pretty fucking shitty, wouldn't you say? (please don't agree with me, it will only piss me off worse. Let's just "shhh". It's my turn to talk)

So, how about we start off with the handful of requests I have? Let's make those happen. In comparison to the devastating blow you knocked me out with, I think they are pretty small favors to ask in return.

I am also highly aware of the fact that although I am a strong female, you trump me every time (being the Universe and all) but I am also quite certain you are aware that I don't take lightly to things like this fucking up my bubble. Neither of us are forces to be reckoned with really, so let's just put this past us and agree to never bumps heads again? or at the very least, not for another 20-30 years. It should take about that long to make up for this one.

xoxo

can you tell I'm in the anger stage of grief?

And on that note.

Purposely rattling an already FUCKING PISSED OFF lion's case when the door is wide open, is a very very stupid and dangerous plan.

I'd walk away slowly not making any sudden movements if I were you.

Friendly Reminder.

Just in case you have been living under a rock:
I have a very dominant personality.
I'm passionate.
I'm blunt. I say things that might will hurt your feelings and I cannot help it (well, I probably could, but that takes too much energy for me to care. Did I mention I'm a tad self centered?).
I am opinionated.
I am independent.

and I like it like that ;-)
oh? you don't? kindly FUCK OFF.

V-Day is coming.

I don't really want to be a Debbie Downer, but I do want to address this marketing ploy day that is coming up. I think the key to remember here is, it's just another day. Just like Christmas is December 25- It's just a day. No one is forcing you to acknowledge this, just like no one forces you to celebrate baby Jesus' birthday. Sure, there is more red and pink crap floating around but if you don't obsess about it, it will just fade back into the universe.

I've never understood why people put so much emphasis on it and I'm a little annoyed at hearing about how depressing it is. In fact, it really kind of pisses me off. Can't you show how much you care about someone throughout the year? Do you really need a day to remind you that you actually like the person sleeping next to you? If so, then you are way beyond my expertise help and I would kindly suggest breaking up pronto.

And if you're on the other side of the fence, I'm sorry that this day is a big slap in the face but shame on you for not being comfortable enough with yourself to get over it. Maybe you need to take a step back, embrace yourself for who you are without someone and maybe try again next year.

So, instead of wallowing in the fact you don't have someone to buy you a box of chocolate (which you probably don't need and who eats an entire box anyway?), go buy your own damn chocolate and let's focus on other important days that have the letter V in them. Like V-E Day or V-J Day. I think those were pretty important dates, more important than say this one where a diapered man baby flies around shooting people.

Still upset? Go here and talk to some other lonely hearts.

ps: this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that surprisingly I have a boyfriend this year. I've never put much importance on this day and I'm pretty sure he will back me up on that. Yes, he will be in town but mainly because I will be out of town for awhile and we wanted to see each other beforehand. Wanna know what we are doing? I am going to leave him in bed so I can go yarn shopping then I'm going to make him do laundry with me. please try and contain yourself from all the romance dripping off that one.

People always leave.

We have a new roommate (well, we've had a new roommate for a couple of weeks now, but I'm finally getting around to addressing it). Thank goodness, too, because I have no idea how we were going to afford January rent (Have I ever said New York is quite expensive? Yea. Big surprise there.)
Frenchie (that's what we call her. Can you guess where she's from? I was against the nickname originally, in case one day we slipped up and called it to her face, but now it's funny) goes to college in North Carolina and is here to do an internship. This means she's temporarily living in the city until April.
So, I've made the executive decision that I am not going to get to know her. I know this seems a little harsh, but in my head it makes perfect sense. I have enough long distance friends who I already do a craptastic job of keeping in touch with (again, why some of you put up with me, I will never know) and having one more is probably going to break me. I have made exactly 5 really good friends since I moved here and only ONE is still present. I never understood what Peyton Sawyer was talking about, until now (That is a One Tree Hill reference, btw. If you're not with it, you better ask somebody).

Ever since I moved here I feel like I've gotten into a pattern of making really good temporary friends. I get to know someone, create a great friendship and then they leave. I understand New York isn't very permanent for a lot of people and it's kind of hard to make it here, but this phenomenon of people moving away from the city is new to me. I will never understand and every time it happens I always feel like Nick Lachey when Jessica blindsided him with divorce papers. But what happened? I thought I was a good friend! DON'T LEAVE ME!! (I'm sorry. I don't know what actually went down, but I can totally see Nick whining like that. No offense. I'd give a cup size to have a guy like him. He just seems like the sensitive type)
Remember, I'm from New Orleans, where it is unthinkable to ever want to leave and if you do, you're out casted. New Orleans girls quote Chris Rose's "She is a New Orleans girl and New Orleans girls never live anywhere else and even if they do, they always come back. That's just the way it is. To hell with no house, no car, no job, no prospects. This is where she belongs. And her mama lives here." and they probably have this tattooed on their asses, in case they ever forget. I swear there is a weird gravitational pull directly under the surface of the earth at exactly 30lat/90long which keeps people living in a city that keeps sinking with the worst educational system in the country and no opportunities. . . but I digress. Maybe I am a little bitter I wasn't one of those girls who settled down with her college sweetheart and has 3 kids who get to see their grandma everyday. . . . . maybe I just like making fun of you. who knows?
The point is, I am no longer interested in meeting people who are in New York (i.e. my life)temporarily. My patience has run thin on people who can dismiss this city so easily whereas I have no idea why I'm still here, but I know there is a reason so I'm sticking it out. This is the center of the universe, people! Where the hell are you going?
One of my first questions when I meet someone is going to be "How long do you plan on being in the city?" and if there is an expiration date, you will automatically be disregarded no matter how fabulous you are. Tough love, baby.

I don't want to talk about it.

For the first time in my life, I don't want to talk about it.
I've never been that person. I always want to talk the drama circling around me (because to be honest, I don't really ever have drama, it's just usually in my orbit) into the ground trying to figure out a solution. I always want to tell everyone I know everything.
But not right now.
I don't want to talk about it and I sure as fuck don't want to think about it.

You should really ignore this part, it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about above. . .
But what I do want to talk about is me. If you aren't familiar with my over-sized ego, let's start with I am the most amazing person you will ever meet. There is no one as fabulous as I am and that's just a fact of life. I'm smart, beautiful, open-minded, eccentric, goofy, adventurous, loyal, responsible, witty, etc. . . the list could go on forever (but you know this already. You were the only who spent all those years trying to convince me of it. Yea, sometimes I get a little carried away, but it's true nonetheless and I finally learned that). Not many people get to see this, though. I don't like those secrets to get out too often or everyone and their grandma would want to be my friend and I don't have time for that. So, I usually like to disguise myself as a bitch- which totally works for me. But I digress.

The point is: I am irreplaceable. Once you meet and fall in love with me, no one will ever be able to fill my place in your heart. And once I fall in love with you? I can guarantee no one will ever treat you as well as I do. As high maintenance as I am, I return the favor of putting up with me threefold (but you know this already). Unfortunately, if you fuck it up forcing me to cut you out of my life, you will spend the rest of your days trying to figure out why you feel so empty. You will spend endless amounts of time trying to figure out why and trying to fill the void. That's the reason why every single one of my ex-boyfriends sing my praises and will always regret not being with me (oh wow. I went a little overboard there, but let's just go with it for the moment). In short, You cannot replace me. (For the record, she is turning you into some thing I can't even recognize as the man I love- which makes it a little easier to accept you are not in my life) But keep trying, sport. After the heart slicing pain, it's quite entertaining for me.

see how brave I am? I can't even call you and tell you all this because I'm still heartbroken. If you cared about our friendship half as much as you care about a damn Coach wallet I got you, maybe we wouldn't be in this place.

Attencion

I am way tired.
I really wanna snuggle. When I finally crawled into bed last night, I cant even express to you how euphoric it was (well, in the few moments before I crashed. I think I was comatose as soon as my head hit the pillow). Just thinking of that amazing feeling is killing me. ugh. Anyone else feel the need to eat more when they are thoroughly exhausted? I think it has something to do with keeping me busy/ moving so I don't fall asleep.

Luckily I am posting this in the afternoon. This morning I was a force not to be reckoned with and it all started out with a few text messages, an email or two and a lot of angry facebook/ myspace status updates. I was thoroughly embarrassed to know people that would say or pass along the hateful things I was receiving. It's a wonder I didn't delete every Republican "friend" I had. Then I stopped and realized that is the beauty of diversity/ living in a democracy and at the moment they just happen to be sore losers- and I get that. My guy lost the previous times I have voted and I understand the frustrations they are going through right now. I also know that this is just the initial shock and eventually it will wear off and then I can say Your are very much Welcome for believing now. Eh. And if they never do come around, then I wish them luck in Canada like they are continuing to threaten (Not that there is any fault in that. I will totally be moving with yall, too. But did you ever stop for a moment and realize Canadians are a lot more liberal than we are- which is exactly what you'd be running from, right? Not solely the president elect's race? Because if that is so, then you might as well delete me from your life right now. I shall disregard your existence anyway.)

My favorite part so far is the insistence of not being boastful and to have more tact in the feelings for those McCain supporters. This was the same person who 8 years ago made sure I was highly aware of who won presidency (In case you are wondering, it wasn't Gore- well. . you know what I mean). No, I haven't thrown anything back and I have been taking in all of the emails/ texts without response because I'm afraid of what I might tell them if I do decide to respond. Ok. Enough talk about that because now I'm all worked up and it's getting harder and harder to be the bigger person in this situation.

So, I will end with I hope that the first dog is a Yorkie ;-)

Instant Message Conversations: A Tutorial

Apparently, speaking through Instant Messenger is a fucking new things for people, so in my duty of being a good person I am going to conduct today's lesson. Pay attention closely because I am up to my goddamn neck with this bullshit and I am not above defriending your ass. I have enough friends who can carry an AIM conversation correctly, I don't need the extra annoyance.

IM conversation (for the mentally retarded who have not figured it out yet) is NOT the same thing as having a F2F (that's face to face) or even a Phone convo. Why not? Well, for starters, the tone of voice is lost through words. The delivery is lost when someone reads it and either doesn't know you well enough to understand or they just plain interpret it wrong. Need an example? If I say Fuck you when I am talking to you (in person/ on phone) and then laugh, you know I'm kidding. But if I just type Fuck you. . . you may or may not know I'm kidding (depends on how many brain cells you're working with that day; and if you're working with a lot, you should know I never joke about the word fuck). So it is quite important that you get your tone across to the other end, or there will be 10 kinds of awkward and confusion. Got that? This is usually why people use the term "lol" or make different types of smiley faces- this helps convey the typed statement in the correct fashion.

Next. (PAY FUCKING ATTENTION) When you type a sentence and in return, the recipient types "What?", "?" or asks a question about your statement, that means you did not express your thought in a comprehensible way. That means the recipient (i.e. ME!) needs you to elaborate your nitwitted statement. That does not mean you need to get frustrated because the recipient is not clairvoyant and cannot decipher stupid. That also does not mean your recipient cannot read or is dense; that does however mean you need to type in complete comprehensible sentences until you learn how to communicate properly- during which time, I highly recommend you delete your IM account and take Text Messaging off of your cell phone plan.

Control Your own Destiny or someone else will- Jack Welch

I popped over to Change is Brewing and her most recent blog struck some inspiration in me.

I am mad at Jack Welch for that quote. What if WANT someone to control my destiny? PLEASE tell me what I'm supposed to do, because after 26 years I am damn tired of trying to figure it out on my own. Communism (OH! or sameness. Remember The Giver? Lois Lowry was on to something! If I didn't know any better I would have thought she was in the middle of a Quarterlife Crisis when she thought of this idea)- now that is what I'm talking about! (ok. calm down for a second. Hear me out)

In these settings you are told what you should do with your life. This eliminates all kinds of fun stuff that Americans fight daily for the freedom to protect, but this doesn't sound half bad when choosing a path from the plethora makes your head spin. For your entire life, you only had one or two options that were both structured and goal orientated. This setting was, for the most part, in education to become whatever you chose to be (because how many people knew what they wanted to be at 13 and are currently doing that? I, personally, wanted to be a junkie thanks to that retarded PSA in the 90s). Education only gets you so far. Having so much structure for so long and then being thrown into the big bad working world of reality doesn't prepare you for anything but an almost immediate mental breakdown. It's a huge life adjustment that no one warns you about. You might study to be an accountant and realize something else is your true calling. Most people are not currently in or will ever be in the field they studied. So what the fuck was the point of the degree in the first place? Once you are out of school, there is no syllabus outlining the rest of your life; there isn't even a suggestion. The sky is the limit, which is fabulous and all, but what if having those infinite possibilities is the demise of what you truly could have been? I can straight up admit I am scared shitless of my potential. Can you admit that?

Let's be honest, no one wants to talk about failed jobs and how they are going to make rent on time, but instead about who is successful. Being that society only focuses on the few that have made it at a young age many people don't realize that there are far more 20 and 30 somethings that don't have it together and are still struggling to find themselves let alone a successful career and family. And there is NOTHING wrong with this. But since it is not widely talked about, those having these problems think there is something wrong with them. Which is one of the many symptoms of a Quarterlife Crisis.

Everyone makes fun of me for using this term. The next time you want to vent to me about wanting to have children or wishing you were still in college or hating your entry level job, don't give me shit for telling your retard ass you are experiencing symptoms of the QLC (like I'm a therapist or something. ha)

The more I talk to people in their 20s, the more I realize we are all together floundering around in this cesspool of inequity. How superb it is to find out it's not just me. Who's down for moving to China? OR better yet, who would like to be in charge of my destiny? I'm down for ownership.

money makes the world go round.

I hate being poor.
I think this is the first time in my life, it's actually effected me. (Note to parents: As much as you want to and are able to, do not spoil your children. It teaches them nothing and only delays the inevitable- a 26 year old unable to manage her money dreaming of a Prince Charming to come take care of her financially the way her parents do which is impossible.)
I know I moved to one of the most expensive cities in the country and I know I took a pay cut to get into the industry (I thought) I wanted to be in, but that still doesn't make me feel better when I have to dip into savings to pay rent this month, but I just bought more clothes I don't need, 5 books I could have checked out at the library (it was in the name of research!) and makeup that I will hardly ever wear.

And to top it all off, I am turning into a bitter old hag. UGH! Pity, party of one.

Maybe bangs will help. I think I can rock bangs :-)

It's in the water.

Four- count them, FOUR- people in my office are pregnant (not to mention to various sorority sisters popping them out). And they are due around the same time. It was kind of cute when it was just one and everyone fawned over her, because she is the first of our little "work clique" to have a child and I don't know, people (especially women) get off to that shit (Ok. I will admit I did get like that once, when it was my sister). I have a feeling in a few months time, it's not going to be so cute.
1. I need to find a new job BEFORE the maternity leave kicks in because no way in hell am I dealing with that mess and
2. I need to stay clear of the goddamn water.

side note: I don't hate pregnant people or children (well. . . . yes, I do hate children, except my nieces :-) I'm just so not in the right mind to be thinking about having kids. I am not ready in any possible sense of the word, but one day when I am happily married I would love to have a baby bump and spend nine months having yet another reason why people should always dote over me and validation to have violent mood swings.

Voice of the People.

I don't usually like to talk about work here, because 1. it's boring as fuck 2. I don't feel like getting fired at the moment (talk to me again next month, though).

Anyway, today we had a department meeting and I was reminded again why I get myself in trouble all the time. My passion is directly linked to emotion and that is not always good- especially in professional situations. But I always have a problem keeping my mouth shut. Sometimes I feel like I need to work on being more passive than actually aggressive. When I feel strongly enough about a situation, I don't want to sit around and see what happens, I want to be apart of fixing the problem. I want to brain storm and get others motivated, too. My adrenaline starts pumping and there is no stopping me. I think I have learned to control it throughout the years, but sometimes I just let how I am feeling take over instead of looking at the big picture.

But then after a meeting when you were the one to initiate talking about problems and someone tells you Thank you for bringing the issues to light, it kind of makes you feel good about yourself. And who doesn't like praise?

What is a good career to channel this passion for change?

Still sick in the city.

Sorry I haven't had anything more interesting than a mouse in my apartment to talk about. . but I'm sick. And I generally cannot keep a thought in my head when I'm all hyped up on cold medicine (which is the only good thing about being sick)

(I remember in college I used to love to get sick and go to the infirmary. They had some really good drugs. How they were over the counter I will never know, because after popping one of those bad boys I would be feeling goodddd) (because by college I had given up all forms of illegal drugs and I had to get my kicks somewhere)

And so now I am watching in the clock until 3pm when I get to leave and go to the doctor and get some antibiotics and hopefully a shot- YaY! (that is not sarcastic. I love shots. don't ask me why).

I am really nervous about going to the doctor in New York. I hate it. It's a different way of going to the doctor. Doctor's offices are in apartments or tiny little offices and they only take cash. WTF?! This does not make me feel good about my health being in the hands of someone who doesn't have a credit card machine (I have to accept it at the bodegas, but I will be damned if I live in the center of the universe and my doctor won't even take my credit card. I could go to the doctor in Bumfuck, Utah and I bet every doctor there will have an actual doctors office and take my card). It irritates me to no end this city is so damn cash friendly. That's why it's so damn expensive to live here. If the cash isn't burning a hole in your pocket, someone is pick pocketing it. UGH!!!

Alright. I will return when I'm not in bitchy sick mode.

Jet- Poo.

Ok. So, apparently we have a problem with gas prices and stuff?? (Yea, I don't have a car and I don't think I've even seen a gas station in months) And I understand why this is effecting the prices of everything else and I'm frustrated. I don't like to really know about big things like this that I can't fix because I am just lil ol me, and I can't change the world as much as I would like to try. (And changing things does not involve ME changing my way of life, because after all I am a spoiled American. It's all those money/ power hungry people who should change. They should be happy with being rich and not greedy bastards.)

But why did it have to go and taint my Jet Blue Airlines?! I was seriously in love with this airline. If I could make love to it and have its babies, I would. I would rock its world, just like it rocked mine. The legroom, the leather seats, the Direct TV- and to top it all off, it was recockulously cheap. Flights between New Orleans and New York were less than $200. I could be home in less time it took to drive to my college town and for nearly the same price. amazing.

This last plane ticket home was a little more expensive and I just chalked it up to being it's prime time to travel for summer vacation. I also noticed on booking this flight, they are now charging an extra $20 if you want to sit in the first 10 rows (which have the most legroom) that was a little annoying, but whatever. I can deal with an inch less of legroom. And now I get an email stating on June 1, 2008 not only have charges gone up for overweight luggage (it went from $20 to $50) but you will only be allowed to check ONE bag. Any additional bags will be an extra charge.

This really hurts my heart. I don't want to downgrade. I consider this the best most amazing way to fly. I have a lot of trips planned in the near future and I would rather take a crowded subway than fly in the tuna cans Southwest pretends are planes.

Is it bad karma to be bitching about flying when I am less than 12 hours away from getting on a plane?

Going home

is more stressful than it needs to be.

Im a little neurotic when it comes to making plans and making sure I see everyone I need to see and planning things down to the minute in order to get the most out of the short period of time that I am home (There are 24 usable hours in every day) but no one seems to want to work with me. I'm fed up with trying to accommodate everyone. So. Fuck off. This is not supposed to be a stressful time for me. I am coming home specifically to destress and visit family and laying in bed watching cartoons for 4 days with my nieces will be fine with me. . . and Im damn close to saying fuck it that IS what I am doing.

This is the email that is going out to everyone:

This is my schedule. Fuck you if you can't fit it into yours.

Saturday morning I am going to play in the French Quarter. I want a goddamn daiquiri and I want to playing in the French Market and The Riverfront.

I want a proper Roast Beef po-boy to absorb the alcohol.

I am going to go home and get my hair cut and get ready for Saturday night. I will be going dancing with my family. This will last no later than 1am at which point I want to go downtown/ uptown with my little brothers and my sister. Whoever wants to come is more than welcome.

Sunday is the Mother's Day crawfish boil at my house.
Monday night is Outback Take-Out and Greek/ One Tree Hill night at GBF's apartment.
Tuesday I am flying out at 5:45 p.m.

If you would like to see me, plan accordingly.
Otherwise I am not in the mood to accommodate you.

View from the top?

Do I want to be a flight attendant?

That sounds like fun. A lot more fun than I'm having now AND I get to travel.

Sorry, my roommate's cousin is one for Delta and she based out of New York so she stays with us when she has lay overs and whatnot. And she told me Delta is hiring right now and is trying her damnest to get me to apply. She has really sparked my interest- I have asked her about everything I can possibly think of to deter me from this crazy thinking but nothing has worked! (I know, the smoking. but I can wear a PATCH! I wore one on the flight to London and I did fairly well, but forgot to put one on on the flight back and that was tragic.) And I could work as much as I wanted or as little. And not only would I keep my apartment here, I would be able to fly to New Orleans whenever I wanted or anywhere else my friends have decided to live. All while making money and traveling the world in between. Then in the middle of all this fun, if I wanted to go back to school for something, I could. . .and I could even cut back on my hours and fly 2 or 3 times a month to keep the travel benefits.

But is this even smart? Have I really given fashion a chance? It hasn't even been a year and I'm already bored. I hate this. I hate having to think about what I want to do for the rest of my life. What if I don't want to do anything? What if I just want to exist? I know one day I need to settle down and find some poor soul to love me and worship me and make me pop out children, but what til then? And is it so bad not to want to have to work for my entire life? Do I HAVE to have a career? What if I don't want one? All I know is sitting in an office all day and working for the man is NOT my idea of a good time. And I know you're thinking "Damn, she REALLY needs to figure out what she wants to do with her life; she's no spring chicken. I think it's time for her to figure it out" but to my defense, I didn't have the luxury of being wishy-washy about this stuff in college. I thought I knew what I wanted to be from the time I was 16. So in those 10 years, normal people are jumping back and forth, changing majors and getting to figure it out. At this rate, I MIGHT have things figured out by the time I'm 36 but I wouldn't hold my breath.

What about a stylist for a band?! How much fun! I tease my friend when he his new band goes on tour, I am coming as his stylist and I think I can rock it. All the benefits of going on tour and not even having to be talented. He thinks I'm kidding, but just you wait! (and I know it will happen again. His last band is quite popular and he was on tour with Creed for awhile)

I feel like I have made no progress in the past year to finding what I want my life to be and I feel like the little feminist in me dies a little when I say all I want to do is find someone to love me. What if I wasn't mean to try and save the world? After all , I'm just a little girl. Maybe the world doesn't need me to save it.

It's just a new a place with the same old problems. But I don't regret moving and I don't plan on leaving. As much as I hate that I'm alone, its kind of a good thing. It forces me to get to know myself better.

UGH!
Ok. Enough of this serious crap.

Speak up, America.

I need a little inspiration today. So I looked to my favorite idol, Ms. Elle Woods.

Ok- so I'm having a little trouble finding a clip of her speech to Congress in Red, White and Blonde and this will have to do.

Anyway-
As if you couldn't tell, I'm a little aggravated with work. I don't know if I wasn't disciplined enough as a child or if I was just allowed to speak my mind one too many times (it might be the scary black hair or the height, but I'm going to bet that it has something to do with my boobs. They are a little intimidating if I do say so myself.), but I have this silly little notion that when someone asks "WHY" there should be a valid reason. I really wasn't aware of how many people there are in the world that just went about their daily lives doing what they were told and never asking why (or maybe they just don't have the brain power to do so. I mean it is a really hard word to pronounce). And I'm not sure if anyone is even aware but after 15 years old, when you ask why it's usually not in a smart-assery way- you general want to know. Well, at least that is MY thought process but I don't know, maybe all the smoke has gone to my head or all the drugs I did in High School have finally caught up to me.

Or maybe it's just because I haven't truly experienced Corporate America before. They really need to start forwarding me the memos.

There are so many things that happen on a daily basis that I ask why about and the closest thing I have come to getting a straight answer is "because that's how we do it" or "I don't know. Ask someone else". Wouldn't it make more sense if you had more than that to pacify your intelligent employees? Or is blondie sitting in the cubicle twirling her hair surpass your goal for employees? (ok. I twirl my hair, too. you know what I mean.) And I'm not even going to pretend like I am smart. I'm an idiot when it comes to the business of fashion. I just know how to buy it and that's why I am here- to learn. And generally when someone is trying to learn, they ask why in order to get a better perspective. But even I know that when there is no rhyme or reason to doing something that does not produce results in any way shape or form except to waste time and energy- well that is just unproductive for the company and for me (because I don't like exerting energy unless it is a life or death situation). It continues to amaze me how this truly successful company even got off the ground with the work ethic it has now (granted, I work in the online division, and it is quite new but is it that hard to get inside tips on how to run a business from its sister divisions? The first lesson needs to be Communication 101: How to write an email).

Anyway. Maybe I am better off in the government/ legal world. At least there you know why and if the answer doesn't suit you, there are ways to change it. But, do I really want to give up wearing really cute dresses to work? That's a tough one.

And I have added another video, because seriously Elle Woods' hair.
'Nuff said.
