Snow Day?

Even if the rest of New York City only closes down if a major catastrophe happens and blizzards don't count (*I'm looking at you, slave driving company that rhymes with Lacy's*), apparently schools still have snow days. More importantly, MY school allows for snow days and I might get my first one tomorrow.

Can we all join in a collaborative snow dance? Because for the first time, I don't have my homework and I'm dreading doing it.

But let's not get carried away with that dance because if my flight to Florida gets cancelled/delayed on Friday, there will be an angry cold Southerner at a JetBlue desk raising lots of hell.

Birthday Fabulousness.

I will run around the city in a party dress and cowboy boots if I want to!

The Soul of New Orleans

Have you seen this yet? It won't let me embed it, but it's worth the click.

It's quite amazing.
I've said it once and I will say it again. I am not a football fan but I am a fan of New Orleans and this makes my city happy, so I'm all for it.

They won't let me embed that but here is a fabulous recap for those who missed the Buddy D parade (backstory: a sports commentator who promised if the Saints ever made it to the Superbowl, he'd wear a dress. He died in 2005, so as a tribute to him thousands of men in dresses danced through the streets of New Orleans)

If you're not from New Orleans, you won't get this.

I'm working on a branding project for class and we are designing a condiment product line. Naturally, I chose a creole seasoning similar to Tony's. I'm calling it Lagniappe (a little something extra) and it's a trip watching these Northerners try to pronounce it. Lagniappe and Chachere's.

It's been a long time since I've had a conversation with these words in it and especially where the other party had no idea what I was talking about much less pronounce it properly. I'd love to see them try to pronounce some of our street names.

Stand Up and Get Crunk

I'm not sure if you've checked out the new batch of Saints songs in the recent years, but I hadn't heard a couple of them. Now, of course, they are all on my ipod in my New Orleans playlist.

Is it just me, or is it the mental image of your parents jamming to "Stand up and get Crunk" the funniest shit ever? I can no longer listen to this song with a straight face (which I'm sure that's a sight on the subway).

Before the last playoff game, my dad told my sister "We about to get Crunk". When she told me, I nearly fell out. I love my dad.

Currently 16 degrees.

Someone kill me.
It's safe to say, this little southern belle will be staying home all weekend.

Dammit.

I just remembered we are running low on toilet paper.

Short Term Memory is a problem for me, too.

How the dinosaur's became extinct.

Sometimes you just need a giggle.
