it can't rain all the time

Is it just me or is anyone else deathly afraid of losing an eye in New York when it rains? I am irrationally scared of short people and umbrellas.

* food for thought: is it possible to die of loneliness? And if not, are there physical side effects?

Your fears are valid. The KGB used poison-tipped umbrellas to do dastardly deeds, as did the Penguin on Batman.

Thank you for confirming my irrational thoughts (which is not a smart move, btw. lol!) and I already think one lady I work with used to be in the KGB. You can just imagine how my mind is going to run with this.

Yes, but You typically carry a lighted cigarette, which must be some kind of deadly weapon, too, since people these days run screaming in fear from the sight of one and beg their lawmakers to save them.

Then again, cigarettes and rainy days don't mix too well, so the umbrella people may win this round.

Ah! You underestimate me. You better believe rain does not stop me from smoking.

I did underestimate You. A Nicotine Queen certainly isn't going to be put off by a little rain.

Now I'm thinking of a memory from last spring that combines all these subjects.

I was at my Niece-in-law's ballet recital, and stepped out for some fresh air during intermission.

It was raining, so the only non-wet fresh air consisted only of a narrow space under the eaves.

A few people were enjoying cigarettes there, which of course does not bother me.

I became aware that one Woman was fretting to Her friend about having to step out into the rain momentarily.

I offered Her my umbrella, which She at first declined, but finally accepted.

Turns out this very conscientious young Lady wanted to extinguish Her cigarette in the proper receptacle a few feet away, which was of course, out in the rain.

Who says smokers aren't courteous?!
